David Cullen, Chaplain on board USS New Orleans (LPD 18), gathers his thoughts before conducting a memorial service for the crew as they remember Culinary Specialist 2nd Class (CS2) Jarod Newlove who was killed in Afghanistan while he served there as an Individual Augmentee. CS2 Newlove was a plank owner on New Orleans before accepting the IA assignment. Amphibious Squadron 5, USS New Orleans (LPD 18) and embarked Navy and Marine Corps units are participating in Amphibious-Southern Partnership Station 2010, a combined amphibious exercise designed to enhance cooperative partnerships with maritime forces from Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, and Colombia.
