Staff Sgt. Jon Mirro operates a tow vehicle, pushing a B-1 Lancer back into a parking position on the north ramp at this undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia, Sept. 9, 2008. Staff Sgt. Scott Shipman, walking beside the B-1, stays in communication with aircrew members in the cockpit who are responsible for working the brakes of the aircraft. The B-1 is called upon daily to support ground forces engaged in both Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. It carries the largest payload of both guided and unguided weapons in the Air Force inventory and is the backbone of America's long-range bomber force. It can rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and non-precision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time. Sgt. Mirro is a native of Ellensburg, Wash. and Airman Decker hails from Murphy, N.C. Both are assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 34th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, and are deployed from Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.
