1st Lt. Matthew George, a Los Angeles native, talks with a candle shop owner in the Sha'ab neighborhood of northern Baghdad with the help of an interpreter during a patrol, Sept. 6, 2008. The road in front of the candle store was recently re-opened and the shop owner is excited about the increased traffic to his business. George serves a patrol leader with Company D, 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad.
