Seaman Michael Hagglund, an optometrist technician embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, uses an auto refractor to help determine eye prescriptions on a patient at Juan Comenius High School during a humanitarian assistance project. Kearsarge is deployed as the primary platform for the Caribbean phase of Continuing Promise, an equal-partnership mission between the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
