Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) leadership, along with local Japanese city officials break the seal on a sake barrel during a mochi pounding ceremony held at the JMSDF gym on NAF Atsugi. The ceremony is a Japanese tradition held at the end of each year. The JMSDF and U.S. Navy participate in both training exercises and social events throughout the year in an effort to strengthen ties between the two nations.
