Staff Sgt. Andres Steevens and Jimmie Gazay work to contain a fire here July 22, 2008. Air Force and Army firefighters extinguished the two-alarm fire, limiting the damage to six closely situated buildings. No one was injured in the fire, although three firefighters were treated for heat stress-related conditions and released. Sergeant Steevens, a firefighter with the Joint Base Balad Fire Department, is deployed from Misawa Air Base, Japan. Mr. Gazay is a volunteer firefighter who assisted with the Balad Fire Department's response.
