MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - Sergeant Richard Skates, amphibious assault vehicle crewman, Echo Company, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, and his wife Jacqueline, both natives of O’Fallon, Mo., hold their son Leo before Sgt. Skates deploys to Okinawa, Japan, during a family day here, Nov. 12, 2013. Families of the Echo Co. Marines gathered to say goodbye as they left for their six-month deployment.
