Forty South Dakota Army National Guard soldiers from the 153rd Engineer Battalion traveled to the United Kingdom Sept. 13-28 to participate in a Reciprocal Unit Exchange Program, where they worked with British engineers from the 71 Engineer Regiment to construct a 150-meter-long viewing walkway in northern Scotland’s Highland Wildlife Park, near Aviemore. The Guardsmen trained their vertical-engineering skills while working alongside military members of a major alliance partner to improve participant knowledge of organization, equipment, structure and operational doctrine.
