Darren Williams, a munitions handler with the Ammunition Center Europe and a native of Greenville, S.C., shovels empty brass cartridges into an inspection bin prior to the cartridges being broken down by a brass granulator machine at the Miesau Army Depot Oct. 18. The newly acquired machine will be used to break down the more than 1,800 short tons of empty brass cartridges currently stored at the depot, which in turn will be sold to various contractors for a profit-with the funds returned to the Army.
