Two CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters lift off carrying Marines from Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, during fast rope training here, Oct. 9, 2013. The helicopters lowered ropes that Marines used to slide down and enter their objective area. Fast roping enables Marines to rapidly deploy to hostile or inaccessible terrain without requiring aircraft to land. Kilo Co. is scheduled to deploy with the battalion as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit where they will serve as the helicopter company.
