Philippine and U.S. Marines assemble M16A1 service rifles Oct. 4, during a field squad competition at Naval Station Leovigildo Gantioqui, San Antonio, Zambales, Republic of the Philippine as part of Amphibious Landing Exercise 2014. The competition included a variety of events, such as the assembly of two M-240B medium machine guns, four M16A1 service rifles, an 800-meter run, a live-fire challenge and a martial arts competition. PHIBLEX 14 is a series of bilateral training events between Philippine and U.S. service members designed to enhance military partnership, strengthen regional security, and improve individual and unit-level skills. The U.S. Marines are with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, which is currently assigned to 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
