One Health promotes positive changes in Uganda

U.S. Army Sgt. Daniel Sanders (center) and U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Tannia Dillon demonstrate how to sling a broken arm during a One Health mission in Kabale, Uganda, Sept. 11, 2013. One Health is a joint venture between U.S. and foreign militaries, the African Field Epidemiology Network, and the U.S. Agency for International Development with the purpose of increasing education and improving practices which prevent the spread of diseases from animals to humans. Sanders is a health care specialist with the 443rd Civil Affairs Battalion and Dillon is a medic with the 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. The One Health initiative allows Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa to have a positive impact on the well-being of partner nations in the African Union Mission in East Africa.
