A military soldier in ACU (Army Combat Uniform) and flight helmet is attaching chains to a concrete block marked '4000' near a dark olive-green military helicopter. The activity appears to be a sling load or external lift operation, where heavy cargo is rigged for helicopter transport. The scene takes place on a grassy field, likely during a training exercise.

Sgt. Dave Gray, a crew chief from Dixmont, hooks a 4,000 pound block up to a UH-60 Black Hawk. He, and other members of 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation Regiment from the Maine Army National Guard rehearse sling-load operations to maintain mission-readiness. A sling-load involves attaching heavy equipment, such as a HMMWV to the aircraft for transport. The 142nd also trains for air assault missions, air movement operations, and response to state and local disasters. (Maine Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Angela Parady, 121st Public Affairs Detachment.)
