Raging fire in a shipping container during a live fire exercise here, Sept. 16, 2013. The live fire exercise was conducted to get the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron firefighters some additional training while deployed. A live fire allows new firefighters the opportunity to read the smoke and see condition changes in real time. This gives them the opportunity to understand what is going on when they arrive on the scene of a structure fire to better understand command decisions of when to make a defensive or offensive fire attack.
