Ambassador Peter Bodde, Maj. Gen. Padam Bilash Karki and Brig. Gen. Paul Kennedy met at the closing ceremony of the Pacific Resilience Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange field training exercise Sept. 12. Pacific Resilience is a civil-military disaster preparedness and response initiative between the Nepal Army, the Government of Nepal, III MEF and U.S. Army Pacific. The exercise emphasized civil-military integration to field command and control, urban search and rescue techniques, engineering response and medical triage. This is the second phase of the Nepal Table-Top Exercise led by the Nepal Army. Activities like this strengthen both countries' bilateral relationship, increase the ability to save lives, protect property, and prepare for the next major disaster. Bodde is the U.S. ambassador to Nepal, Karki is the director general of military operations in the Nepal Army, and Kennedy is the deputy commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force and the commanding general of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade.
