Lance Cpl. Saroum Verng, a San Diego native and motor transportation operator with Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Regional Command (Southwest), directs a vehicle at Forward Operating Base Shir Ghazi in Helmand province, Afghanistan, after completing a combat logistics patrol Aug. 27, 2013. Verng took part in a combat logistics patrol to deliver supplies to Marines throughout the area while simultaneously conducting backhaul operations.
