Lt. Col. Rob Weiler (left), commander, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, awards a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal to Lance Cpl. Edmond Thomas, team leader and machine gunner, Weapons Platoon, Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, here, Sept. 4. Thomas and two other MRF-D Marines received NAMs for their efforts in Exercise Koolendong. “I was just doing my job,” said Thomas. “I made sure Marines knew what was expected of them, and I always try to lead from the front.”
