Lance Cpl. Ryan Essink, rifleman, Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, leads his squad through an improvised explosive device lane training during the battalion's Integrated Training Exercise here, Aug. 9, 2013. Essink, 19, a native of Grand Island, Neb., and the Marines in his squad saved the lives of two role-players who were wounded in the explosion. The ITX is a training exercise held at the Combat Center to prepare Marines for a combat deployment.
