Sgt. 1st Class Eric D. Allen, a Huntsville, Ala., native, and the former electronics maintenance chief with 308th Brigade Support Battalion, 17th Fires Brigade, grips an AM-7239D vehicular amplifier adapter that he modified with a detachable locking bar with his section. At right is an unmodified AM-7239D adapter, where the locking bar is fixed to the frame and would normally require a whole new chassis to repair if broken. Allen and his section were intent on being resilient and finding a better way to fix the adapter, which was approved by the Department of the Army as an official way to repair the adapter in April 2012.
