Edwards, 21, from Arvada, Colo., speaks Pashtu, which enables him to communicate with the role players. The Marines will take a supporting role while deployed to Afghanistan as the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National Police continue to lead in combat operations. The ITX is a training exercise held at the combat center to prepare Marines for a combat deployment.
