    2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division

Maj. Gen. Thomas Vandal (left), the 2nd Infantry Division commanding general, and Col. Michael Lawson (middle left), commander of 210th Fires Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, place a wreath at the memorial site to remember Capt. Arthur Bonifas, the Joint Security Force company commander, and 1st Lt. Mark Barrett, the 1st platoon leader, who were killed by Korean People’s Army guards during the Axe Murder Incident 37 years ago. The ROK-U.S. Alliance has become significantly stronger following the 1976 attack. It is an enduring partnership, committed to the strong defense of the Korean Peninsula.
