On Tuesday, September 8 at 2:30 pm CT, the Gary / Chicago International Airport (GCIA) will host a ceremonial ribbon cutting event to commemorate the completion of the airport’s new 55-acre air cargo campus, a $24 million investment that substantially expands the airport’s air cargo infrastructure, accommodating up to eight (8) wide-body cargo aircraft operating simultaneously.
Construction on the initial phase of the air cargo campus began in Q4 2024 and concluded earlier this summer. This expansion will support continued economic growth throughout Northwest Indiana and further strengthen the region’s freight and logistics capabilities.
