Ernie Pyle: famous war correspondent never forgottenGray clouds hung in the sky while rain pattered the concrete of the dock where veterans, Okinawa residents, service members, Boy Scouts and families boarded a large ferry charted for Iejima, an island in the Okinawa prefecture. They gathered together on the small land mass for a ceremony April 19 in honor of Ernest T. “Ernie” Pyle, a famous American war correspondent who died during the Battle of Okinawa.

Hawaii service members honor the ANZACS with partner nationsAustralian, New Zealand and U.S. service members from around Oahu gathered at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, known as the Punchbowl, April 25, 2015, to commemorate the Australian-New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) forces that fought at the battle of Gallipoli in 1915 during World War I. This year marks the centennial of the battle and the 43rd year the Marine Corps has supported the ceremony on Oahu.


Cooperative health engagement held in Puerto Princesa for Balikatan
Many were gathered at Puerto Princesa City Hall to attend a medical and veterinary symposium April 13-14 in Puerto Princesa, on the island of Palawan, Philippines, as part of cooperative health engagements held during exercise Balikatan 2015. Approximately 86 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the U.S. military, Australian Defence Force, as well as local health and veterinary officials were in attendance.
