Adaptive sports, a good way of turning something negative into something positive
Warrior Transition BattalionFollowing her successes in the regional trials hosted by Northern Regional Medical Command at Fort Belvoir, Va., Feb. 9-13, Spc. Chasity M. Kuczer was selected as one of the Army’s top wounded, ill and injured 100 athletes in adaptive sports. As a result, she was invited to compete for a spot on the Department of Defense Warrior Games 2015 Army Team at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, June 19-28.

New York National Guard Soldiers compete for Best Warrior and German badge honors at the same time
Soldiers compete for Best Warrior and German Army BadgeEleven New York Army National Guard Soldiers were the first to compete for both US and German awards during the New York Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition here, March 25-30. During the hybrid five-day competition, Soldiers not only navigated difficult terrain and challenging temperatures, but adapted to new events that allowed them to earn the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, the only foreign badge allowed to be worn by US Army National Guard Soldiers. “We seized the opportunity to conduct hybrid training to further recognize and reward Soldiers’ efforts who were outside of the winners circle for Best Warrior,” explained Maj. John B. McBride, New York Army National Guard Operations Officer for 53d Troop Command. “This also provided junior Soldiers the ability to see firsthand how we work with our NATO partners.”


Transforming the future
Spc. Brian Johnson The Ohio National Guard is getting ready to go through a transformation. This transformation, initiated by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld over five years ago, is producing sweeping changes over the entire Army and Army National Guard. The change here in Ohio, and locally in Chillicothe will result in the Ohio National Guard being more flexible and capable to do missions both at the federal and state level.
