Staff Sgt. Karl Runningen, a chemical operations non-commissioned officer with the Area Support Group, Kuwait and native of Bemidji, Mn., competed in the U.S. Army Central Non-commissioned and Soldier of the Yearcompetition in Atlanta June 23-27. He is one of seven warriors who competed for the honor of being named the best of the distinguished U.S. ARCENT organization. During the three-day competition, he faced rigoroustests that challenged every aspect of his training, skills and abilities.
