Lt. Col. Debra McNamara, optometrist, 124th Medical Detachment, 18th Medical Command (Deployment Support) talks to health students at Radford High School about the different areas of the optometry field and the career path to becoming an optometrist in general and in the Army 27 March. The event was held as a kick-off of a sponsorship program between Radford’s health department and 18th MEDCOM (DS) and in conjunction with Women’s History Month as three other women professionals, including the unit commander who is also an anesthetics nurse, a dental surgeon and another nurse, also informed the students of their similar medical paths.
