Two methane-powered generators were built for the three megawatt-hours of energy power-purchase project between the Miramar Landfill and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar that is set for completion in May. Each generator is capable of producing 1900 kilowatts of energy from methane-collection throughout the Miramar Landfill. After the gas is sent to the generator, it will then run through approximately a mile and a half of above-ground power lines and two miles of below-ground lines to MCAS Miramar.
