A squad of Marines of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment (1/3), prepare to enter a town, May 1. Marines are in the area to establish their presence and conduct joint operations with the Iraqi Police. 1st Battalion, 3d Marines is deployed with Regimental Combat Team 2, II Marine Expeditionary Force (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi Reconstruction.
