Sgt. 1st Class Calvin Tiffie and 1st Sgt. Robert Apala, infantrymen from Ada, Okla., conduct "flutter kick" exercises during their unit's Spur Ride Jan. 4 near Camp Buehring, Kuwait, from which they earned their cavalry spurs. The two non-commissioned officers are assigned to the 1st Squadron, 180th Cavalry Regiment of the Oklahoma Army National Guard and have been deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn since July 2011.
