John Cunningham of Poway, Calif., an infantryman with B Troop, 1-18th Cavalry, 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team based out of San Diego, smiles as he rounds the corner to the finishing point of the timed, 5.2 mile ruck march he completed along with eight other competitors as part of the Best Warrior Competition held in the hills of Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif., Sept. 14, 2011. The hike required that competitors carry a minimum of 35 pounds and their weapon.
