The massive expanse of desert in southern Afghanistan is home to several remote Afghan border patrol outposts. A U.S. Army, 3rd Zone, Afghan Border Police Security Forces Advisement Team, trains Afghans to patrol and secure their border. The remote location of the outposts poses re-supply problems. U.S. Air Force air mobility liaison officers work with the advisement team to establish drop zones used to air drop critical supplies.
