Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Bauman, a culinary specialist, prepares the first course of triage shellfish bisque during the ‘Cook and Serve’ category of the 9th International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival. Four Culinary Specialists from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Commander, U.S. 6th Fleet, competed against more than 1,200 culinary artists from around the world at the festival, hosted by the All Cooks Federation of Turkey, during which they received a silver medal, a bronze medal and the top sanitation and hygiene award for their efforts.
