Alan Bell is pinned by the 81st Regional Support Command's Maj. Gen. Bill Gerety after being sworn in as a U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador aboard the USS Yorktown, in Charleston, S.C., Oct. 2. Bell, a retired major general, served in the Army Reserve for over 39 years culminating with his terminal assignment as Deputy Commanding General United States Army Reserve Command/Deputy Chief Army Reserve. Bell is one of four new ambassadors in the 81st Regional Support Command, located at Fort Jackson, S.C. A native of Caraway, Ark., he currently resides in Big Canoe, Ga., and is one of three ambassadors that will serve as a liaison in that state. The Army Reserve Ambassador Program was established in April 1998 so that private citizens can help to promote awareness of the Army Reserve and the identified goals and objectives of the Chief, Army Reserve.
