An Iraqi air force aerial gunner prepares his night-vision goggles and helmet prior to an Mi-171 helicopter night mission at Taji Air Base, near Baghdad, Iraq, July 12. The American aircrew on the mission belongs to the 721st Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron, and assists the Iraqi air force with many functions, including night-vision goggle flights, a capability the Iraqis did not posses until nine months ago.
