Marines of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, embarked aboard the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan, reenact the famous flag-raising on Mt. Suribachi as part of the ship's Independence Day celebration. Bataan is serving as the flagship for the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, performing Maritime Security Operations in the U.S. Fifth Fleet area of operations. The 22nd MEU, embarked aboard the ships of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, is currently serving as the theater reserve force for U.S. Central Command.
