Brian Gentile, a radio supervisor with 84th Civil Affairs Battalion, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., stands his dog, Ellie, after surgery performed by JBLM veterinary staff during 218th Medical Detachment, 47th Combat Support Hospital, 62nd Medical Brigade, 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command’s two day field training exercise. Soldiers from the 218th MD provided a variety of free services to include spay and neuter surgery, dental cleaning and even a “cherry eye” operation that saved one service member around $900.
