Cpl. Ilja Danilov, an Estonian Defense Forces’ soldier, lies in wait to ambush American paratroopers conducting an air assault training mission Aug. 22 in Paldiski, Estonia. Role-playing as opposing forces, Danilov and other soldiers from the Estonian Single Scouts Infantry Battalion and the 173rd Airborne Brigade tested the EDF and U.S. Army’s tactics as the NATO allies coordinated day and night assaults throughout the three-day exercise. The training is part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, an exercise dedicated to demonstrating commitment to NATO obligations and maintaining interoperability with allied forces.
