A member of the California National Guard Counterdrug Task Force seizes marijuana plants from an illicit grow site in Humboldt County July 24. Over the course of the two-week mission, the task force issued 43 warrants and seized 15,000 marijuana plants. The joint task force, made up of 70 members from 15 agencies, was assembled at the request of the Yurok Tribe to combat illicit marijuana cultivation because growers had diverted water from streams and wells on tribal lands, causing a severe water shortage in an area already affected by drought.
