    Caroline B. Kennedy pays her respect to fallen service members through a speech and poem during the Battle of Okinawa memorial ceremony June 23 at the Okinawa Peace Memorial Park in Itoman, Okinawa, Japan. The event was held for veterans to remember and pay respects to their fallen comrades. The Cornerstone of Peace monument holds the names of more than 12,000 Americans and 200,000 Japanese who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Battle of Okinawa.
