A local woman walks the unpaved grounds of an impoverished village located in the vast countryside of the Santa Ana Department. With a monthly income of just $60 a week, most in the area can't afford medication, eyeglasses or proper health care and are living well below the poverty line in one of El Salvador's poorest areas. More than 500 residents living under these conditions receive free medical services focused on general medicine, optometry and dentistry during a Medical Civic Action Program or MEDCAP April 10. The event was planned by members of El Salvador's 2nd Infantry Battalion and U.S. Soldiers assigned to Company B, 82nd Civil Affairs Battalion, 85th CA Brigade in support of Special Operations Command South.
