1st Lt. Matt Cyr, an armor officer and platoon leader from Dover, N.H., assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, pushes his way through a locked gate of an abandoned house, Oct. 4, 2008, in the Hayy Jihad community of the Rashid District in southern Baghdad. Cyr and Soldiers of Co. C conduct daily security patrols throughout West Rashid and search abandoned houses for hidden weapons caches. In recent weeks, coalition forces and Iraqi security forces have found numerous caches in the abandoned structures in southern Baghdad. The Soldiers, working alongside their Iraqi counterparts, continue to disrupt enemy activity and to assist the Iraqi security forces transitioning into the lead role in providing security for the people of Baghdad.
