    Volunteer airmen re-certify IFAKs

Tech. Sgt. Ualter Freitas opens an Individual First Aid Kit, or IFAK, to inspect components at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, Mar. 14, 2014 Service members who deploy are issued IFAKs for temporary medical assistance, until they can reach further medical care. All items inside the IFAK that expire within a year must be replaced before they can be re-certified. Once items inside the IFAK have been verified, they are sealed with a tag and service receipt to guarantee the IFAK has not been tampered with. Freitas is the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron electric shop NCO in charge and is deployed from Aviano Air Base, Italy, and a New Bedford, Mass., native.
