Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Sgt. Maj. Kikuo Saito, Camp Sapporo “So You Kai” chairman, sits between Utilitiesman Constructionman Ariel Hogue, left, a native of Pensacola, Fla., and Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Justin Cable, originally from Nederland, Texas, Jan. 31, 2014. The sailors are members of the 2014 Navy Misawa Snow Sculpture Team, which is attempting to build a frosty, 3-D version of the U.S Navy Seabee’s “Fighting Bee” logo for the 65th Annual Sapporo Snow Festival. Saito, and other members from Camp Sapporo, stopped by the sculpture site to check on the progress, and to provide lunch for the Sailors. This is the 31st year that Naval Air Facility Misawa and its tenant commands have sent a delegation of sailors to the festival to create a sculpture, and to serve as U.S. Navy goodwill ambassadors. Camp Sapporo hosts the team during their visit each year, and allows them to lodge on board their installation, while in Hokkaido.
