Army Maj. Gen. Greg Lusk, adjutant general of North Carolina, talks with recently enlisted North Carolina National Guard soldier, Tiana Littlejohn of Shelby, N.C., about making the most of her military career during the 2013 American Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, N.C., Aug. 18, 2013. This was the third day of the double-elimination series and was designated as the event’s Military Appreciation Day; veterans could attend day three for free and were presented with a baseball cap and challenge coin with the words ‘Thank You’ inscribed on the back. Lusk also honored two Vietnam-era Medal of Honor recipients by presetting them with special coins prior to the start of the game and threw the first pitch. (U.S. Army National Guard Photo by Sgt.
