Army Maj. Gen. Greg Lusk, adjutant general of North Carolina, winds up to throw a baseball while warming up before throwing out the first pitch of game nine at the 2013 American Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, N.C., Aug 18, 2013. The third day of the series was honored as the event’s Military Appreciation Day. Before throwing the first pitch, Lusk honored two Vietnam-era Medal of Honor recipients by presenting them with coins on the field. “By recognizing those [Medal of Honors winners] and telling their story over and over it resonates and stays a part of the fabric of our culture,” Lusk said.
