Artillerymen assigned to the 1st Battalion, 101st Field Artillery Regiment, Massachusetts Army National Guard, and Kenya Defence Forces run rehearsals on a KDF M119A2 howitzer during Justified Accord 2026 Table IV at Bearing Point 2, Laresoro, Kenya, March 3, 2026. The joint training involved three U.S. M119A2 howitzer sections and two KDF sections training together to certify on Table IV, a key standard for gunnery proficiency. Following the gunnery qualifications, forward observers from both nations conducted their own Table VI certification, validating their ability to call for fire. The combined team then transitioned to a dynamic Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise, integrating artillery with close air support. The training culminated in a "Top Gun" competition, which tested the speed, skill, and precision of the best sections from both armies, reinforcing the interoperability and shared readiness between the two forces.
JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, JA26 is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa.
