A new initiative designed to protect Soldiers and their careers is now in place at Fort Bliss. Iron Zero, a DUI reduction program created through the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program, provides Soldiers with a safe transportation option in an effort to prevent impaired driving. Sgt. Marasia Anneolang, Boss President, spoke with Fort Bliss Garrison Public Affairs' Crista Mack, about the value of the program. The volunteer-run program took nearly a year to develop from its initial concept to full implementation. Leaders and volunteers worked together to build a system that would help reduce DUI incidents while supporting the well-being of the force. Driving under the influence carries serious consequences for service members, including the loss of on-post driving privileges for one year. Iron Zero aims to prevent those situations before they occur by offering Soldiers a reliable and responsible alternative. Through community support and volunteer commitment, Iron Zone reflects a broader effort across the installation to protect lives, maintain readiness, and preserve Soldiers’ careers.
