U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to 1st Armored Division participate in dodgeball and basketball competitions during the second day of Torch Week at the Joshua W. Soto Physical Fitness Center, Fort Bliss, Texas, March 3, 2026. Torch Week is an annual 1st Armored Division tradition commemorating the division’s role in the World War II invasion of North Africa in 1942, known as Operation Torch. The competitive events challenge Soldiers physically and mentally while strengthening teamwork, resilience and cohesion across the formation. Building disciplined, connected teams enhances readiness and reinforces the warfighting culture required for Iron Soldiers to fight and win the nation’s wars. (U.S. Army video by Spc.
