Medical providers and development experts from across the U.S. Joint Force and development industry gather for a medical experimentation operations brief during the first day of Exercise Arctic Edge 2026 (AE26), U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, Alaska, Feb. 22, 2026. The AE26 medical experimentation includes medical providers and aviation assets from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Army, and U.S. government agencies across the state of Alaska. During AE26, the Defense Health Agency’s Operation Medical Systems Program Management Office is providing essential support and expertise to the joint medical providers assigned to medical units from across the Department of War. OPMED, part of the Defense Health Agency, is the DOW’s leading force in medical development and acquisition, focused on enhancing warfighter lethality and readiness. Project management teams develop and deliver next-generation, world-class medical capabilities that empower combatant commanders for Large-Scale Combat Operations, particularly within austere environments, with a twofold mission: save lives on the battlefield and swiftly return injured service members to duty.
