The 249th Engineer Battalion (Prime Power) is a specialized U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) unit providing critical, commercial-level electrical power, infrastructure assessment, and repair worldwide for military operations and emergency disaster relief. The soldiers are working in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), local partners, and members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) crews to install emergency power generators to support Mississippi communities impacted by the January 2026 winter storm.
